Bangkok 2017 Travelogue

Land of Smiles - that's my first trip of 2017!
3rd visit since 2016 and i can never get tired of coming back. cheap shopping, good food, budget massage,...

Location:

I always made it a point to stay in the stretch of hotels opp Platinum mall since most of shopping will be done in that area - including Central World and the morning Pratunam Market. Not forgetting my favourite pork trotters rice (from Sabx2 @ Soi 19) is also in the vicinity.

Sarah suggested The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam for this trip.

very roomy, clean and perfect for 3 girls' stay and importantly "Talad Neon Night Market" is just right below the hotel.
Cafe Hopping @ Thong Lor

Cafes are sprouting out all over BKK and thee are many insta-worthy ones in Thong Lor area. We pick out 2 of them for this trip.

The Commons
Boston lobster roll from the commons was good! a little expensive but still cheaper than SG and worth the price we paid for.

Address: 335 Thong Lo 17 Alley, Khwaeng Khlong Tan Nuea, Khet Watthana, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10110, Thailand

(un) FASHION Vintage Collection Café

Address: Ekkamai Soi 10, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Massage
massage is cheap and abundant in BKK. Head to Phetchaburi soi 15 and you will be spoilt with so much choices.

Went to Number One Massage which closes at 12midnight. good or bad experience depends very much on the masseur you get. 1 hr foot massage is 250Bhat. the shop looks half empty as most of the masseur went back to their hometown for Songkran.
Address: 1/7-8 Pratunam , Phetchaburi soi 15

Night Market

Talad Neon Night Market

probably due to the Songkran weekend when I was there, 40% of the stores are not open. hopefully it will be filled the next time I return ^^

Roi Fai Night Market @ Srinakarin Soi 51

nothing much here if you are not into street food or photo taking. the things sold here is mostly vintage items.

Eat, EAT and Eat!

Head down to Yaowarat (Chinatown) for some pork trotters rice & sharksfin.

Mango Tango ~ my fren's must have each time she returns to BKK

Nara Thai @ Central World

SHOP, SHOP, SHOP
this trip I managed to get most of my buys at the morning Pratunam Market. I entered via the entrance from Soi 19. Almost every piece is 100 ~ 200bhat. Seriously Very Cheap!

Platinum Mall on the other hand is slightly more expensive and lesser items caught my attention but none the less, this is a must go too!

Chatuchak Weekend Market is also another must-go! not much ladies clothes but there is a few shops selling very good quality men's tee shirt. shopping for brother & le hubby.

Don't forget to eat their famous coconut ice-cream ~ cooling off the heat.

Head Out!

since we had 5 days this time round, we decided to explore something different. Booked a 5hrs cab + tour from the hotel and off we head to Mekong Railway Market and Floating Market.

-

honestly the Mekong Railway Market is quite a eye opener and it gives us insights to the life of locals. worth travelling 1.5hrs to catch this 8:30am train that pulls into the station #traveldeeper

Can't wait for my next trip to Barcelona & Italy in Aug. Any recommendations? ^^
